New Casino Project in Mississippi Will Start Soon Courts Rule in Favor of Mississippi Casino

There has been some good news for the developer of a planned casino in Mississippi after courts ruled in favor of the developer following some issues that arose earlier in the process.

Long Beach Harbor Resorts LLC is looking to bring a 13th casino resort to the Gulf Coast area in Harrison County, and the decision by the Mississippi Supreme Court means that the $180 million development is one step closer to reality.

Plans for the development were actually approved at the start of 2019 by the Mississippi Gaming Commission. However, problems arose right away over issues with the planned parking facilities with warnings that they could be at risk of flooding should there be a major storm such as Hurricane Katrina.

Acceptance by Secretary of State in Mississippi

Following the initial approval of the project, a lawsuit was filed by the office of the former Mississippi Secretary of State, Delbert Hosemann, over an arrangement known as the Tidelands Lease and Boundary Agreement.

However, the Mississippi Supreme Court in the state has now ruled in favor of the developer and will allow the project to commence. In addition, Michael Watson, who is the current Secretary of State of Mississippi, has accepted the court’s decision and will allow work to begin. He said:

The Mississippi State Supreme Court’s decision today is narrowly tailored to decades-old agreements between the city of Long Beach and Long Beach Harbor Resorts LLC as well as the agreements between the city and the state of Mississippi. We will honor the court’s ruling.

According to reports, this is the first hurdle for the developer with regard to this project, as gaming officials still have to approve financing plans. In addition, they will have to ensure that all proposals meet the necessary standards before they give the green light for construction on the new facility to begin.

An Exciting Addition for the Area

The new development will come as an exciting addition to the area and will benefit locals, visitors, and the state itself due to the additional tax dollars that will be generated.

One of the benefits of the new development, once it is completed, is that it will create a lot of new jobs for people in the area, and there will be jobs in a variety of departments. In fact, job opportunities will be created during the construction of the property as well for tradespeople and those involved in the building of the development.

Another of the key benefits that will come with the development is increased entertainment for those who live in the area as well as those visiting. People will now have more choices when it comes to gambling facilities and can also make use of the other amenities at the resort, including the hotel and conferencing facilities.

The state will also be able to enjoy the benefits of increased tax dollars that are generated by the resort. This means more money to invest back into local services and communities within the area.
