This month marks Problem Gambling Awareness Month in the United States, and this is a topic that has gained a lot of attention over the past couple of years.

With more and more states legalizing gambling in some form or another, a lot of concerns have been raised over the rise in problem gambling issues. This has resulted in states and even operators striving to put solutions and support into place.

One of the latest gaming giants to announce a push to promote responsible gambling is Caesars Entertainment. The operator has recently revealed that it is making some changes to help encourage responsible gambling and to reduce the risk of people developing gambling issues.

These issues then lead to many other problems such as financial issues due to debt, relationship problems, and they can even affect mental and physical health.

What Does Caesars Have Planned?

There are a number of steps Caesars is taking as part of its responsible gambling push. By stepping up its efforts, the gaming giant hopes to have a positive impact on the rapidly increasing problem.

After announcing the changes, Tom Reeg, the CEO of the company, said:

As the largest gaming company in North America, we have a special responsibility to ensure that everything we do is built on a solid foundation of Responsible Gaming. We take that responsibility very seriously, and these new policies reflect that commitment.

One of the key changes that the entertainment giant is making is to expand its self-exclusion program. This enables those who feel they are developing a gambling problem to basically exclude or ban themselves from gambling venues and online platforms. They can impose a self-ban for periods ranging from a year to a lifetime.

The program for self-exclusion is to be put into place through two phases, one of which will deal with physical Caesars locations, and the other with Caesars’ online platforms. The operator also plans to add names to its list from the state-run self-exclusion list to ensure all bases are covered.

By helping gamblers to self-exclude if they believe they have a problem, Caesars officials believe that they can help to tackle the rise in gambling issues and help those with problems to take early action. They said that it will help to ensure that everyone who gambles with Caesars does so responsibly.

Raising the Caesars Rewards Age

Another step that Caesars is taking in a bid to tackle this issue is to raise its Caesars Rewards minimum age to 21. Although the app is not a gambling one, Caesars said that users younger than 21 are allowed to access it in some states. The age to access the rewards program will now rise to 21 across all jurisdictions.

The operator is one of the biggest names across the nation and beyond, with many high-profile properties in Las Vegas alone. The company said that it aims to have all of its self-exclusion programs in place across Caesars properties by the end of this month.
