The Grand Poker Series Got Postponed for the Fall Grand Poker Series at Golden Nugget

It has been announced that the Grand Poker Series at the Golden Nugget in Downtown Las Vegas has been moved to the fall of 2021. This is the first time the tournament has been moved in its history, which spans 13 years.

Over the years, this tournament has gained huge popularity, with many people flocking to the event to get a slice of the action. However, the past year has been turbulent due to the global pandemic, which affected casinos across the world.

A Range of Events Planned as Part of the Tournament

Organizers have confirmed that a range of events will be taking place as part of the tournament later this year, which means poker fans will have plenty to look forward to.

The tournament will now take place between September 28th and October 18th, 2021, and over that period there will be a total of 50 events. Between October 7th and 10th, there will be a no-limit Hold’em event, which comes with a $600 buy-in and a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000.

Over recent years, this no-limit event resulted in prize money of more than $1 million, with more than 1,300 entries in the 2019 event.

According to a report on Card Player, the championship event:

…features three starting flights this year, each beginning at 11:00 a.m. local time. Players will start with 25,000 in tournament chips, with initial blinds of 100-100 and 40-minute levels which will increase to an hour in length at the final table. The tournament will utilize the big blind ante format.

It has also been confirmed that players will be able to play multiple flights and that there are unlimited re-entries for the event. Any player that makes it through more than one of their flights will then advance to the next stage with their largest stack.

Over $1 Million in Prize Money During the Tournament

With 50 events scheduled for this year’s event, there is a lot of prize money being generated for those who are lucky enough to win. In total, there is more than $1.2 million in guaranteed prize money, and the popularity of the event means that the figure could end up being far higher.

Buy-ins for the variety of events will vary, with options from $100 buy-ins to $600 for the championship event. There will be plenty of options when it comes to events over the 21-day tournament, and it is expected to draw in big crowds.

One of the concerns for organizers is the situation with COVID-19. While everything is up and running and most restrictions have been lifted, COVID-19 levels last year worsened as fall approached. With the tournament now moved to the fall, some people may stay away due to concerns over an increase in infection levels.

Despite this, the Grand Poker Series is expected to draw in big crowds if there are no COVID-19-related obstacles. The tournament has been growing in popularity over the years and has become a go-to event for poker enthusiasts.
