Jerry’s greatest advantage is his extensive experience on the casino floor. His time as a casino manager taught him everything about what makes a player tick. Besides being a skilled poker player, he has deep knowledge of all live table games and gambling regulations in the US.

American Poker pro, Justin Bonomo surged ahead of 108 participants to take home the 2019 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series London £100,000 ($125,900) Short Deck Main Event. In all, he collected $3,257,400, which happens to be the fourth-biggest winning in his career. For Bonomo, this was his 5th final table and third title of 2019.

How the events unfolded

For the final table, seven notable entries were all that remained out of the 108 players who took part. And they had all already earned significant cash rewards since the series commenced.

On 8th August, Thursday, Bonomo started the final day of this tournament in second chip position following on the heels of Wai Kin Yong. The latter had just won the £100,000 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em main event at the same tournament, earning him over $3.1 million.

Bursting with confidence, Bonomo had this to say:

Once you start raising in this game, you make it really easy to get shoved on. The only way to prevent that is by limping, and so players are limping all their strong hands and that handcuffs players as they can’t shove too much.

Bonomo’s top earnings thus far:

  • 17th July 2018 – The 2018 World Series of Poker
    • Event – $1 Million No-Limit Hold’em Big One for One Drop
    • Winnings- $10 million
  • 30th May 2018 – The 2018 Super High Roller Bowl
    • Event – 300,000 No-Limit Hold’em
    • Winnings – $5 million
  • 20th March 2018 – 2018 Super High Roller Bowl China
    • Event – HKD 2, 120,000 No-Limit Hold’em
    • Winnings – Over $4.8 million

    Bonomo vs. Kenny

For more than a year, Bonomo had held onto his top spot on the all-time money list, which he clinched by winning the 2018 World Series of Poker. However, recently, his position was eclipsed by Bryn Kenney, who won the £1,050,000 Triton Million tournament on 4th August, netting him over $20.6 million in total.

Bonomo didn’t let the grass grow under his feet, though. Within a week of Kenny securing the coveted No.1 spot, Bonomo took home another massive seven-figure cash award, bolstering his earning to over $48.5 million in total. It was the seventh game in his career where he played for $1 million or more. In spite of these massive victories, though, Kenney is still placed at the top of the earnings board, with Bonomo falling short of $7.2 million.

In addition to winning large cash awards, Bonomo is the proud recipient, yet again, of Card Player’s Player of the Year 2019 title, earning him 1,200 points. The ranking takes into cognizance poker players’ achievements over the course of a decade.

    Bonomo’s plans for the future

So far, Bonomo has earned himself two Triton Short Deck titles, but this version of poker isn’t his favorite because he isn’t a fan of all-ins, and finds them “incredibly stressful.”

In the future, Bonomo plans on playing a considerably less amount of poker and doesn’t think he will ever secure the top spot again, especially with Kenney playing more of the game. Though 2018 was a fantastic year for this poker champ, he’s now looking to take part in fewer games further down the line and ease his way into retirement. Looking back on his highly rewarding career, Bonomo concludes that he has nothing left to prove and is proud of how far he’s come.
