Last week, FanDuel launched its online casino in Pennsylvania, making the state second state in the US where the gaming operator offers online casino gaming. FanDuel is already the most popular site for sports betting in the state, and with this new launch, the operator is sure to gain even more audience.

The new FanDuel Casino is available for download on both iOS and Android smartphones. Customers will have the option to switch between the sportsbook and casino options on their devices, with the two verticals sharing a single wallet. For now, the online casino gaming cannot be accessed using tablets or computers.

According to FanDuel’s VP/Manager for casino, Jesse Chemtob, there is a possibility that there may be an option to expand access later on. He said that FanDuel Casino is only currently available within the FanDuel Sportsbook iOS and Android apps, but they plan to explore offering casino games on desktop in the future.

With the launch, Pennsylvania now has six live online casinos. Currently, there are five other online casinos in the state, which are Hollywood, PokerStars, Unibet, Parx, and SugarHouse. PokerStars Casino and SugarHouse are leading the market, and FanDuel, with its new launch, hopes to compete with the top performers.

FanDuel Casino offers a selection of games

FanDuel Casino offers twelve online slot games and five online table games. Out of the slot games, Divine Fortune seems to be the favorite among early customers. The five table games are made up of three different versions of roulette and two different versions of blackjack.

FanDuel has included a “Touch” version of each of their game offerings, so as to optimize user experience when they access the games through a smartphone.

The range of games offered is smaller compared to other online casinos, but the number of games is expected to increase over time. In fact, when online gaming casinos are launched, it’s common practice to start off with a smaller range of gaming options that has been hand-picked to have the most appeal to customers. As such, the small selection shouldn’t be a problem for online gamblers since this has been the case for almost every online casino when they are first launched.

Commenting on the range of games available, Chemtob said:

This is a conscious approach we decided to take to bring our FanDuel Casino product to market prior to Super Bowl. In our experience in NJ, we’ve found that FanDuel Sportsbook customers are engaging significantly more with our table games, but we will look to add more table games and slots in the near future.

FanDuel partners with Valley Forge

For its online operation in Pennsylvania, FanDuel has partnered with Valley Forge Casino Resort and the owner of the resort, Boyd Gaming. Even though FanDuel Casino has offered a wider selection of games for its online casino in New Jersey by partnering with Betfair Casino, it chose to stick with a brand that Pennsylvania residents were already familiar with and comfortable with.

Chemtob explained that bringing in the online casino gaming option was a “natural product extension” in the state since FanDuel Sportsbook has resonated so well with players in Pennsylvania. With FanDuel Casino, he hopes that their online sportsbook players will have a more robust online casino gaming offering.
