Much to the joy of poker fans everywhere, popular online poker cardroom, PokerStars, has launched a new spy-themed game on its virtual reality online poker room. This new release, named Spies, helps the poker-room in welcoming fans to Thanksgiving weekend.

The game is extremely unique and enticing as it adds an extra layer of adventure for poker players. Players can solve spy-themed challenges, have fun with virtual weaponry, apparel, and gadgets, and do much more. The virtual reality world of the game is the perfect entertainment for those who like a mixture of poker with a little bit more thrill and adventure.

Poker commentator and comedian Joe Stapleton even shared the news on Twitter with his followers, saying that he is very thankful for the new VR game that PokerStars released as he gets to stream with his “real family.”

More than just poker

In the new game, players can choose to be either good or evil. Depending on which they choose, they gain access to various items, including laser lipstick, exploding bubble gum, shoulder-mounted weaponry, and more. They can have fun with all these while traversing through the game world in an attempt to unravel the secrets that the lair itself holds.

The great thing about it is that it is a highly intuitive game, making it moderately easy to play. The fun factor is never-ending as players will encounter supervillains who are hiding in their secret lairs inside active volcanoes located on snowy mountains or win a Virtual Reality-themed bracelet.

The game world includes realistic and immersive environments such as Macau 20050, Showdown Saloon, The Monte Carlo Yacht, and more. According to the Managing Director and Commercial Officer, Severin Rasset, the game shows what PokerStars VR can do.

He said:

There are no limits to what we can do at PokerStars VR. It’s been a very exciting first year. Players have gone head-to-head in a wild-west saloon, a Monte-Carlo yacht, a futuristic Macau and now they can live their poker dream as a spy or super-villain, with jet-pack monkeys thrown in for good measure.

The game serves as a setting for PokerStars Virtual Reality Poker Tour

The mountain-top fortress in the game will also be the setting for the next stop in the first edition of the PokerStars Virtual Reality Poker Tour (VRPT), from November 29 to December 1.

The Millionaire Maker, a 100 thousand chip buy-in event, has been scheduled for November 29, while November 20 will see the Main Event with a 5 million chip buy-in event. Then, December 1 will see the Ultra High Roller, which is a 25 million buy-in event.

The winners of these will win the first PokerStars VRPT bracelet in the world, which they can use for their virtual reality avatar. Points for the player of the year leader board can also be earned.
If you wish to participate too, then you can register by visiting Discord in the VRPT channel. However, you need to hurry as spaces are quickly running out. To get a taste of the game first, you can even watch popular streamers such as Joe Stapleton, Ben Spragg, and Georgina James battle it out on Twitch.

Another great news for players is that PokerStars is looking for a PokerStar VR ambassador, so there is a chance that you might get recruited straight from the landscape of the new release.
