US Gambling License

Popular iGaming developer, Hacksaw Gaming, has officially been awarded a provisional iGaming license in West Virginia – allowing the software provider to enter the fast-growing US gambling market for the first time. CEO of the company, Marcus Cordes, notes it as being the start of a significant expansion into the US.

A Lucrative Market for Hacksaw

Hacksaw Gaming develops a wide variety of online casino games, although it’s their video slots that have attracted the most attention. Hacksaw Gaming is licensed in 18 regulated markets – including the UK and Malta – and the company’s expansion path is now focusing on North America. This expansion path began back in May, 2022, when they were awarded an Ontario license.

Ontario is seen as a highly lucrative market for online gambling operators – and since opening up, more than 73 online casinos have been awarded licenses to operate there; players can enjoy more than 32,000 casino games – and many software providers wanting to enter the US market begin their expansion path in Ontario.

A Smart Partnership

Once Hacksaw Gaming’s portfolio went live in Ontario, they partnered up with Lights and Wonder to secure their entry into the US market. Lights and Wonder is a Vegas-based developer that is responsible for pushing out iGaming content across the USA. According to Hacksaw Gaming, they plan to expand further throughout the US in the first quarter of 2023.

While, in the past, this expansion looked to be difficult, Cordes notes that the provisional license awarded to the game developer in West Virginia makes things a lot easier. He states that the latest expansion:

Comes after our license approvals in Romania and the Isle of Man earlier in 2022, so we’re finishing the year just as strongly as we started it. Being granted this license is testimony to the quality of our games portfolio and shows just how robust and engaging our content is.
