One of the most trusted names in the world of poker, the World Poker Tour, has announced that it is launching an online poker series on partypoker – poised to be one of the biggest online poker events complete with a huge prize pool.

Scheduled to take place from May 10 to May 26, 2020, the World Poker Tour Online Series has an overall guarantee of a staggering $30 million across the whole series on partypoker. From the $30 million, the WPT events specifically total as much as $7 million.

The World Poker Tour has remained one of the biggest and most well-known names in the poker industry, making it the perfect brand to host such a huge event that is set to attract poker players across the globe. In fact, the WPT is the first major live tour name that was truly global, and there is no doubt that this online series will be a huge hit too.

Many events to choose from for poker players

The online poker series has plenty of events to keep players hooked, and it is likely that you would want to play the whole series. The biggest and most anticipated event is, without a doubt, the WPT Online Championship, which has a $5 million guarantee and a buy-in of $3,200. Day 1 flights of this event will run from the first day of the series itself.

Other events that players are most excited about include the WPT500, which has been scheduled from May 10 to May 18. This has a $1 million guarantee, and players can choose from ten starting flights, which is way more than the typical live set-up.

Another anticipated event is the WPT Deepstacks, which is set to take place on the final two days of the series. This event also has a $1 million guarantee.

The winner of the WPT Online Championship will receive a huge trophy with their name on a plaque, and also receive automatic entry into the famous Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions, which costs $15,00 per ticket.

Many poker players switch to online poker

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic that has forced many casinos to shut down indefinitely, many poker players have moved to online poker. In fact, the Sunday Millions tournament held earlier this week generated a record-breaking number of entries, and also generated a whopping $18.6 million prize pool. This makes the Sunday Millions one of the biggest online poker tournaments ever.

With each entry costing $215, more than 60,000 players created 93,016 entries in the tournament.
